Call for Interns: USAID Summer Internship Program 2024

The USAID Summer Internship Program, running from June 03, 2024, to August 30, 2024, offers interns meaningful work assignments that provide insights into the advantages of a Federal career.

To remain eligible for this position, participants must stay enrolled in their degree program throughout the internship and maintain good academic standing, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for undergraduate programs and 3.0 for graduate programs on a 4.0 grading scale.

USAID Summer Internship Duties

  • Typical assignments include a variety of research projects, writing program memoranda, facilitating meetings or special events, performing analytical work, attending program discussions, communicating on USAID program issues.
  • Interns are assigned to work in missions or in offices and bureaus throughout the Agency. Interns in all areas are expected to perform some assignments that are administrative in nature.

USAID Summer Internship Requirements

  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Enrolled in a qualifying academic program.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer is required.
  • Min. GPA 3.0 undergraduate; Min. GPA 3.0 graduate
  • Must sign pathways agreement, if selected.

USAID Summer Internship Qualifications

GRADE โ€“ LEVEL OF EDUCATION

GS-4ย โ€“ Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associateโ€™s degree.
GS-5ย โ€“ Completing 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent degree.
GS-7ย โ€“ Completing 1 full academic year of graduate-level education, or Eligibility under theย Superior Academic Achievement*ย Provision and completing a bachelorโ€™s degree.* Superior Academic Achievement is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

1. Class standing โ€”ย Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.

2. Grade-point average (G.P.A.) โ€” Applicants must have a grade-point average of:

A) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (โ€œBโ€ or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or

B) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (โ€œB+โ€ or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.

3. Election to membership in a national scholastic honor societyย โ€” Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies.
