FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship 2024/2025

The FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship Program, an important educational project, is presently accepting applications for the academic year 2024/2025.

This program is aimed at young professionals and provides them with the option to pursue masterโ€™s degrees in English at Hungaryโ€™s prestigious agricultural colleges.

The scholarship covers various expenses, including application and tuition fees, housing, subsistence, and health insurance.

To be eligible for the FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship, candidates must

  • be citizens of one of the designated countries and
  • have shown excellent academic achievements.
  • Proficiency in English is a requirement, along with motivation,
  • good health, and
  • preferably being under 30 years of age.

Eligible Countries

  • Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana,
  • Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo1, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Republic of Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia,
  • Nigeria, North Korea, Palestine, the Philippines, Republic of Cabo Verde, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.

For the 2024/25 academic session, the FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship will accept applications to the following programmes;

The following Master of Science degree courses are offered in English for the 2024โ€“25 academic year:

  • Master in Environmental Engineeringย โ€“ Sopron University, Sopron
  • Master in Crop Production Engineeringย โ€“ Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent Istvรกn Campus, Gรถdรถllล‘

FAO Hungarian Government Scholarship Benefits and Timeline

The scholarship covers several expenses including;

  • application and tuition fees,
  • accommodation,
  • subsistence costs, and
  • health insurance.

However, it does not cover family members.

Number of Awardees:ย The number of scholarships awarded is based on the minimum number of students required for each course.

Required Documents

While applying for the 2024 FAO Hungarian Government Scholarships, you will be required to submit the following documents;

  • application form with the selected course indicated at top (remember to add your Photo)
  • curriculum vitae
  • a copy of the high school/college diploma and transcript /report of study or copy of the diploma attachment
  • a copy of certificate of proficiency in English
  • copies of relevant pages of passport
  • one letter of recommendation (from your school, or workplace, if employed)
  • statement of motivation
  • Health Certificate issued by Medical Doctor
  • Certificate of Good Conduct issued by local police authority.

Application Procedure

  • Interested applicants must submit a comprehensive E-MAIL dossier toย REU-Scholarship@fao.org.
  • This dossier should include a completed application form, curriculum vitae, educational transcripts, proof of English proficiency, passport copies, letters of recommendation, motivation statement, health certificate, and a certificate of good conduct.
  • All documents must be submitted in English.

Selection Process

  • The selection process for the scholarship is conducted in two phases. In the first phase, FAO conducts a pre-screening, followed by further selection by the participating universities.
  • Only completed applications are considered, and the final selection is made by the universities without any involvement from FAO.
