METI Government of Japan Paid Internship Program 2024 for Students from Developing Countries

Applications are now open for METI Government of Japan Paid Internship Program 2024 for Students from Developing Countries. Here’s how to apply:

METI Japan Internship Program is a fully funded internship for international students in Japanese companies. Foreign students are invited to apply. The METI Government of Japan Internship is offered by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

It is open to undergraduates and Graduate students from OECD/DAC countries. IELTS is not required and there is no application fee. Your airfare, meals, and accommodation will be covered. All interns will also receive a stipend for living expenses.

Interns will be placed in different companies in Japan. If you are selected as an intern they will inform you about host companies that suit your skills and abilities. In 2023, 94 companies hosted 107 interns.

The Japan Internship Program (JIP) will match the experiences, abilities, preferences, and requirements of the internship applicant with the host company. It is one of the best Internships in Japan. More details, the requirements, and the application process are given below.

Requirements:

  • You have to be a citizen of one of the nations listed in the OECD/DAC, with the exception of the People’s Republic of China.
  • Language Proficiency: Ability to communicate in English or Japanese (JLPT N3 or above).
  • Age: As of August 1, 2024, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 40.
  • Educational Status: Students are required to submit a recommendation letter and an enrollment certificate while a recommendation letter and a graduation certificate are required of graduates.
  • Availability: The capacity to commit to the internship full-time in accordance with the program’s timeline.
  • Additional requirements: Certifications in JLPT, CEFR, TOEIC, TOEFL, or IELTS are needed.
  • Prior Involvement: Applicants are not eligible to have taken part in the program between FY2016 and FY2023.

Internship Options:

  • In-Person Internships: Work on-site at small to medium-sized Japanese companies.
  • Online Internships: Participate remotely from your home country.

Responsibilities:

  • Together with the internship manager, create an internship plan that outlines the intern’s responsibilities and objectives.
  • Take part in a wrap-up presentation, follow-up training, and pre-training.
  • Assume accountability for duties like keeping in touch with, informing, and conferring with the
  • program office and host firm on a regular basis to ensure personal safety and health management.
  • Send in numerous forms of correspondence, notices, reports, etc. before, during, and after the internship
  • Whenever feasible, take part in Japanese language training. If the internship host firm offers you a permanent position, accept it.
  • Participate in a project supported by Japanese government public funds and act appropriately.
