Job Description
As a Research Assistant, you will work directly with the Zellow.ai product team to collect, build, validate, and expand our corporate data repository. Areas of focus include:
- Source and collect corporate data from national registries, government filings, data aggregators, and public databases within African jurisdictions.
- Clean, normalise, and consolidate datasets: corporate identifiers, address formats, directorships, shareholding links, global ultimate owners, and historical records.
- Help plan & monitor internal metrics: data completeness, anomaly detection rates, extraction accuracy levels.
- Support business development and product activities: partner due diligence, briefing documents, and public-facing datastories where helpful.
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Scrape public filings and directories (e.g., Nigeria CAC, CIPC)
- Clean/standardise company details, shareholding chains, etc
- Draft analytics briefs and slide summaries for team review
- Produce reports, insights, and documentations
- Conduct literature reviews and summarize relevant research materials.
- Collect, organize, and maintain research data from various sources.
- Assist in designing and carrying out experiments, surveys, or fieldwork.
- Perform data entry, cleaning, and basic statistical analysis.
- Prepare research reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication.
- Ensure compliance with research protocols, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements.
- Provide administrative and technical support to the lead researcher and project team.
- Stay updated on developments and methodologies relevant to the research area.
Qualifications:
- 0-1 year of experience in data-driven roles (research, assistantship, Excel/CSV work)
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Public Health, Economics, or related discipline).
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in data management and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, Python, or Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
- Attention to detail and commitment to research integrity.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
- Strong written and verbal English, meticulous attention to detail
Preferred Skills
- Firsthand experience with African corporate data or registry scraping
- Awareness of beneficial ownership, data privacy, anonymisation
