About the Teach for Nigeria Fellowship Program
Nigeriaโs exceptional university graduates, young professionals, and entrepreneurs from diverse academic backgrounds are invited to participate in this fellowship, serving as full-time teachers (Fellows) in under-resourced schools in low-income communities.
The application portal to become a fellow opens on the 1st of February 2024. If you are passionate about changing lives, join us; letโs end educational injustice in Nigeria.
There are two pathways for the fellowship: The Young Graduates Pathway and the Existing Teachers Pathway. Check the eligibility for the both pathways below.
Eligibility for Young Graduates
This pathway is meant for highly motivated young graduates and mid-level professionals from diverse academic backgrounds. The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- A Nigerian between the ages of 18 and 35 at the time of application.
- A university graduate with a minimum of 2:2.
- Must have at least 5 OโLevel credits with Mathematics and English.
- Completed NYSC on or before July 2024

Eligibilty for Existing Teacher Pathway
Structure
Teach for Nigeria is looking for people who demonstrate leadership potential during their application. As a result, youโll be asked to write three essays describing your leadership experience, motivation, and your long-term goals.
This requires you to reflect on your past experiences and future goals. Describe your personal achievements over the years and share your career aspirations.
We want to know how the fellowship will propel you to your desired career path. We advise you to use the STAR approach (situation, task, action, and result) to write the application essays.
How you apply for the fellowship will have a huge impact on your chances of success.
Itโs important to dedicate time to creating a strong application that will make you stand out from other applicants. Remember that your application will be reviewed by a team of trained assessors who will also review thousands of applications from other candidates.
