Call for application: Global Schools Advocate Program Call for Teachers.

Deadline: 18th December, 2020.

Global Schools launches its call for its second cohort of the Advocates Program to build capacity of primary and secondary school teachers to integrate sustainability in school communities.

November 12, 2020: The Global Schools, an initiative of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth, is launching the program under the UN SDSN with a new mandate to help schools develop a long-term strategy to implement Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in their curricula. All primary and secondary teachers worldwide are invited to apply, including the 45,000+ teachers already in the Global Schools network of 1,000+ schools in 70+ countries.

The Advocates Program will allow teachers to act as action planners and connectors within the school to ensure the implementation of a school-wide long-term strategy to bring the SDGs, Global Citizenship, and 21st Century Skills within school curriculums and operations. Teachers will receive free online training; join a network of like-minded teachers working to implement activities and lessons on global issues within their classrooms; receive free optional monthly online workshops and conversations on the SDGs and ESD; participate in the forefront of efforts taken by the United Nations, governmental, and civil society in developing and leading a global movement for sustainable development.

Selected teachers will be invited to undergo a free online training course on the SDGs and Global Citizenship Education, where they will learn about the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, the SDGs, the role of schools and educators in achieving the SDGs, and how to incorporate these topics in lesson plans and school activities. After completing the course, the Global Schools Program will support teachers by giving them free resources to assist them in building a long-term school strategy, and implementing global citizenship education in their classroom and school community.
